Next Thursday, I'm testifying to the Copyright Office in support of a new copyright exemption for game preservation.
If approved, the exemption would allow libraries/archives to remotely share out-of-print games with researchers. Game industry lobbyists would say that this would imperil the game industry. But we got two big players in classic games (Antstream Arcade and Limited Run) on the record that they SUPPORT the exemption!
The hearing will take place over Zoom, and you can sign up to watch on the Copyright Office's website.
hey. i'm unemployed and i just dropped all the money i have in the world to pay an unexpected and way off-leash tax bill. i'm not at risk of going without food or housing. but things are gonna be uncomfortably tight the next couple months.
